School and College (Post 16) Performance Tables 2003

INTRODUCTION

These performance tables provide an invaluable source of information for young people and their parents on the achievements of sixth form students in their local secondary schools and Further Education sector colleges, and how they compare with other schools and colleges in the area and in England as a whole.

All schools with sixth forms and Further Education sector colleges with results in England are included. Schools and colleges appear in alphabetical order, LEA by LEA. Special schools that have chosen to be included and sixth form centres or consortia are also listed.

Each entry provides information about the achievements of students over the 2001/2002 and 2002/2003 academic years in General and Vocational A and AS level examinations, key skills at Level 3 and in a number of other advanced and intermediate qualifications.

Key skills at Level 3 and Advanced Extension Awards (AEAs) are being reported for the first time this year. AEAs are not yet scored under the UCAS tariff and are therefore being reported separately to A level results for the time being. Key skills at Level 3 have been assigned a point score under the UCAS tariff and are reported alongside A and AS results.

Information about other results such as Key Stage 3 National Curriculum Tests, GCSEs and GNVQs in schools can be found in the separate secondary (KS3) and secondary (GCSE/GNVQ) performance tables booklets. Details of how to obtain further copies of this booklet, booklets for other areas, or other performance tables, can be found in the How to get more information section.
