INTRODUCTION

These Tables provide information on the achievements of pupils in local maintained secondary schools and how they compare with other maintained schools in the area and in England as a whole. They do not include independent schools.

The Tables provide information on:

  • a measure which shows how much value each school has added, based on the progress made by individual pupils from Key Stage 2 (KS2) to Key Stage 3 (KS3);
  • the Key Stage 3 results in English, mathematics and science; and
  • background information on each school, including its name and address and telephone number.

The information contained in these Tables provide only part of the picture of each school's overall achievements. The Tables should therefore be considered alongside other important sources of information such as Ofsted reports, school prospectuses and Governors' Annual Reports. State schools - including City Technology Colleges - must provide parents with prospectuses on request.

Parents may be interested to see the Ofsted report for a school. Ofsted school inspection reports can be obtained from Ofsted's website at www.ofsted.gov.uk or direct from the school.

This Tables cover the 150 Local Education Authority (LEA) area in England. All secondary schools in an area are listed in alphabetical order, including:

  • LEA-maintained schools;
  • Academies; and
  • City Technology Colleges.

Pupils who need more specialised teaching and facilities may go to special schools. If there are any special schools in the area, they are listed in a separate section at the end of the Tables.
