Youth Cohort Study: Activities and Experiences of 17 Year Olds: England and Wales 2005

DescriptionThe Youth Cohort Study (YCS) is a series of longitudinal surveys that contacts a sample of an academic year-group or "cohort" of young people in the spring following completion of education and usually annually until they are aged 19 or 20. The survey looks at young people's education and labour market experience, their training and qualifications and a wide range of other issues, including socio-demographic variables. In this case, the young people will have been surveyed for the second time since leaving compulsory education.

Additional information The SFRs for cohort 12 of the Youth Cohort Study (YCS) for both 16 year olds and 17 year olds were subject to minor revisions on 29 June 2006. There was a minor error in the weighting for 16 year olds which had a knock-on effect on the the data in the SFR for 17 year olds and therefore this also needed revising. The effect was very small with the vast majority of percentages not changing. (Updated 29/06/2006).
