DIUS: Qualifications at a local level for adults: England 2007 and reweighted estimates for earlier years
| Description | Please note that some minor discrepancies have been found in the UA/LAD geography data for 2007 in these tables. This has been traced back to the relevant geographical variable for UA/LAD on the 2007 APS dataset. ONS have now corrected this problem and issued a revised dataset. Revised tables both correcting this problem with the 2007 UA/LAD data and including the 2004 data which had been previously unavailable will overwrite the existing tables on Friday 21 November at 9.30am. The revisions are minor and only affect a small minority of UA/LADs. Please note that data for other geographies are not affected. These tables are based on the Annual Population Survey (APS) for 2007, 2006 and 2005 and the Local Labour Force Survey for earlier years. This is an update of Qualifications and Participation in Learning at a local level: England 2006. With the exception of the table on adult learning all the tables have been updated to 2007 and earlier years revised to take account of reweighting of the survey datasets (see explanation on reweighting below). Unfortunately due to changes in the survey the learning table cannot be updated to 2007. There is a problem with the derivation of a qualifications variable for the 2004 APS which is why there is no 2004 data for tables 1 to 4. This data will be added once this problem has been resolved. The full list of tables is shown below. A file with an explanation of the source, coverage and definitions for all the tables is also available. Annual Population Survey (APS) Reweighting The APS is derived from the Labour Force Survey (LFS), which is a sample survey, so the responses reflect only a small proportion of the total population. Each respondent is given a weight relating to the proportion of the total population that he or she represents. The sum of all the weights equals the total household population for the survey. Reweighting means assigning different weights derived from more up-to-date population estimates. Prior to the current reweighting exercise, the LFS data were last reweighted using population estimates published in spring 2003. These updated tables have been produced using reweighted datasets produced by the Office for National Statistics based on population estimates published in 2007. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
