Outcome Indicators for Looked-after Children, Twelve months to 30 September 2003 - England

DescriptionThis publication covers a range of outcome indicators for children who have been continuously looked after for at least 12 months in England. This is an update of last year's release that was published by Department of Health on 27 June 2003 and a detailed follow-up to the SFR scheduled for 29 April. The key points will cover:

The number of children looked after continuously for at least 12 months by: Absences and exclusions, achievements at the key stage 1,2 and 3, Year 11 children who obtained at least 1 GCSE (or equivalent), Employment status at end of Year 11, cautions and convictions and immunisations, dental checks and health assessments.

In September 1999 the Government established 11 objectives for children's social services in England. This publication covers the one on ensuring "that children looked after gain the maximum life chance benefits from educational opportunities, health care and social care".

Sub-national figures will be published at Social Services area level (the equivalent to LEAs) for the main analyses.
