Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1110 per pupil in real terms to Trafford Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 41 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 3485 in 1997 to 97 by January 2005.
  • 230 MORE teaching assistants than in 1997
  • 420 MORE support staff than in 1997
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 80 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 68 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 77 per cent from 64 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 87 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 83 per cent in mathematics in Trafford LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Trafford LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 54 per cent in 1998 to 70 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 4600 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
