Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £1390 per pupil in real terms to Bradford Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 47 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 6677 in 1997 to 644 by January 2005.
  • 740 MORE teaching assistants than in 1997
  • 1560 MORE support staff than in 1997
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 68 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 54 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 65 per cent from 50 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 73 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 68 per cent in mathematics in Bradford LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Bradford LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 30 per cent in 1998 to 46 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 12800 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
