Education

  • Pupil funding - For 2005/06, this government has allocated an extra £980 per pupil in real terms to Warrington Local Authority since 1997/98, an increase of 37 per cent.
  • The number of 5,6 & 7 year olds in classes over 30 has FALLEN from 2102 in 1999 to 0 by January 2005.
  • 270 MORE teaching assistants than in 1999
  • 400 MORE support staff than in 1999
  • Primary school results - Revised figures for 2005 show that 80 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English up from 65 per cent in 1997. In Maths this number is up to 78 per cent from 64 per cent in 1997.
  • Provisional figures for 2005 show that 84 per cent of eleven year olds reached the required standard in English and 82 per cent in mathematics in Warrington LA.
  • GCSE - The percentage of secondary school pupils in Warrington LA achieving 5 or more good GCSEs is up from 48 per cent in 1998 to 61 per cent in 2005 (provisional).
  • In 2005 there were 4200 free part-time early education places taken up by 3 and 4 year olds in maintained, private, voluntary and independent providers
