PLEASE NOTE: The following download will only work with Excel versions Windows 98 and above.
You may wish to print this page to refer to as you open and view the data in an Excel spreadsheet.
To download the approved qualifications database file for this site, right click the link below and choose the "save Target as" option.
Section 97 Data
Instructions on Loading the Data into an Excel Spreadsheet
To open the data file in Excel, you will need to open a new spreadsheet and follow these instructions.
- Click on the Data menu.
- Choose Get External Data from the list.
- Then choose Import Text File
- In this window, find/browse for the text file which you downloaded and click Import.
- The next screen will be an import wizard, the default settings should be:
- File type: Delimited
- Start import row at: 1
- File origin: Windows
- Click Next > to continue.
- In step 2 of the wizard, you will need to change the default settings.
- Delimiters: Check only Other
- Text Qualifier: {none}
- In the "other" box, enter the bar character | (hold down shift on the keyboard and type in the \ key to get the bar character).
- If you have entered the correct delimiter, the Data preview will now show the columns all lined up properly. If this does not happen, please check that you have correctly entered the bar (|) delimiter.
- Click Next > to continue.
- In the final wizard step, you can select individual columns and apply specific data types. It is not necessary to do this but may be useful if you are intending to use the advanced features of the excel spreadsheet.
- Click Finish to complete the import.
